WP7 with its(almost) best...

Have been using Windows Mobile in the past (as no other smartphones were available, except few like SE R380 and some Symbian), but then become an Android fanboy. Had played with WP7 phones but wasn't impressed (early release of WP7 was really bad). Then updates came and with latest version (7.5 Mango) the phones are finally usable.
To my surprise I caught myself using it more than my Nexus. To my surprise, the phone is very smooth and stable. Impressed!.
My only issue is lack of apps, but bear in mind that WP7 phones aren't (and never were) entertainment oriented. It's a business platform with superb support of M$ products.
Regarding battery issues I would advise anybody to check Settings and turn off unnecessary connections (Location etc). Those background processes taking up huge amount of power source thus draining battery...
After proper settings my phone runs 2 days with average usage and few accessories (BT headset).
I would recommend it as this phone is MUCH smoother and stable than other competitors (Android & iOS).
P.S.: The screen should be 4.3", then this phone would be TOP DOG.

My first smart phone and i think it's the best phone ever. i have had friends who told me i should buy an iPhone when i was planning to buy this phone but i didn't listen to them and after they used it for a few mins they admitted it is as good, if not better than an iPhone and they would now consider getting one themselves when buying a new phone

But after changing from Samsung Galaxy, I don't think this is as good a phone, simple things like stopwatch and timer are not there or I can't find them, if I get a text from someone I can't ring them back without going back to phone book, can't send business card like could have been done with old Nokia, and because of the micro sim I can't swap back to my old phone if needed to do so temporarily.

Comment about battery life

Great phone. My first nokia in a looong time! Apps are a little thin on the ground, but it's early days still and will improve soon, hopefully.
For those having trouble with battery life, I found that after updating the firmware through zune, it needed a factory reset (in the "about" section of "settings") for the improved battery life to kick in. It's a bit of a pain, because it wipes ALL your contacts, apps, music etc. But it was worth it in the end. Brought me from 17hours on a full charge (with no bluetooth or wifi switched on, to over 3days! and that's with the features running.
***Just make sure you're data is backed up before you start!***

NIce try from Nokia

To be honest i had my doubts about a phone with Windows running inside. But it doesnt freeze or crash like its brother on my laptop it works just fine.. So the operating system is ok.
My first complain is that i play an online browser game and for some freaking reason my Lumia doesnt want to open the page. Ridiculous that my old Nokia C7 could do it with Opera inside. Unfortunatly and sadly Opera is not compatible with Lumia at the moment. But that could change in the future hopefully they will fix it.
My next problem, if someone calls me and i am not able to see or hear it ,for example i left the phone in my car, it doesnt signal the missed call. It should flash or something but nothing. Everytime your phone is not nearby you just have to push buttons to see if someone called. It is little thing but very annoying for me.
For some reason you can not time a profile. It should be simple isnt it. Again little thing but annoying.
My biggest issue with Nokia Lumia is the battery. For what this phone was made can only do for a couple of hours. If you are on the net often or just make lots of calls it wont even last a day so make sure you have a car set. The battery needs to be improved. Nokia say there will be updates coming to solve the problem but right now it is just not good enough.
After these coments i may sound like i dont like my Lumia. But nothing could be further from the truth. I in fact love it. The design is beautiful. Web pages come up in no time. Never looses signal. Easy to use like any Nokia. Zune is a great place to download updates and some of the best apps are actually free. Thats the problem, i just dont want to put it down.
So overall i am happy and hopeful that Nokia will fix my problems.

this phone is amazing. since i bought it there have been a few updates. the battery life is now much better, nokia maps has been updated so you no longer need to go online to use it, i.e. its 100% free to use. anyway, the phone looks, feels and preforms brilliantly, i cant fault it. get one now. r.e battery life, if you set the screen brightness to medium, location to off untill you need it, you will easily get a full day out of it, i've gotten 30 hours out of my last charge which is great for a smartphone

Don't buy it!
Date:18 March, 2012

-couldn't even copy my contacts from another Nokia phones!!!
-lack of customization (Microsoft knows better than I what I want), no background image, terrible looking tiles etc
-using bluetooth it's too restricted
-horrible Zune software
-data connection needed to use GPS, I was thinking that Nokia Drive is free? what should I do when travel abroad?
-hard to close mini usb cover
-useless extra 'button' to attach file to message but nothing handy to delete message
-and much much more
I will never again buy any Nokia phone with Windows phone on board
btw Nokia N9 with MeeGo is much better option!

Got new nokia 800 two weeks ago. Nice phone but very poor battery life. I have had nokia for so long & never found this before. Low to medium user & can only get half way through day on battery. Dissapointing from previous Nokia standards. Will need to get 2nd charger for car/workplace. Are there some features I can disable during day to save on battery life ?

Hello gorgeous

As a long time Apple user an upgrade gave me the opportunity to try something new. Say hello to the Lumia 800 from Nokia.
Out of the box first impressions were good, the sleek curved screen, chunky and angular feel suggest a quality product. Fitting the micro SIM is straightforward although I had to ring Vodafone to get them to activate the new SIM and for some reason my phone number routed me to Pay as You Go support....I'm Bill Pay!!
That all done the good impressions continued, a fairly quick set up and I was ready to play....
Setting up my gmail account proved less than easy, selecting 'gmail' when adding an account simply did not work, test emails sent from the iPhone and PC did not reach the inbox on the Nokia....deleting the account and creating a new one using 'Google Mail' worked...don't ask me why I can't fathom it either.
New apps for Twitter and other services were added, some of the default services/tiles were removed from the home screen and a change to the display colour resulted in satisfactory personal look.
So far so good.....
But wait, where's the battery power icon? Answer: there isn't one or at least not one I can find or an option to display it. When charging it's there otherwise it appears you have to dive into settings to view the battery status....ho hum.
A quick search online shows a host of issues reported regarding battery life, the most recent f/w upgrade appear to have addressed these and time will tell in this regard but why oh why no battery icon on the home screen? One word about the f/w version shown on my phone differs slightly from that shown on the Nokia support pages - I'm guessing these version differences relate to the carrier, the phone says no updates available so this seems to be the case.
Now for the downside....
Charging the phone is via USB, the socket is hidden beneath a very flimsy hinged cover on the top edge - how long this will last before it breaks is anyone's guess.
Moving on to Zune, the PC based s/w tool used to manage music, photos etc. and download new f/w updates, is enough to make a grown man cry, it is awful - it's clunky, clumsy and unintuitive and it crashed my Windows 7 PC. A subsequent uninstall and install seemed to work but a quick Google of the problem uncovers a raft of dissatisfaction amongst Win7 users and not too much in the way of praise from everyone else.
The 'Find My Phone' option is another concern, on the Apple products this is a godsend and accurate to a few metres, on the Nokia I'm apparently in a field about 6 miles from my actual location....!
That all said, don't be discouraged by the above - sure the iPhone is top notch and the Nokia aint no iPhone but for me that's no bad thing. The recent hysteria over the 'new iPad' is reason enough to ditch Apple and try something else, the Nokia has it's flaws but if you forget all that was familiar on the iPhone and give the gorgeous Nokia a chance you won't go far wrong.

As usual Nokia always turn out top quality phones and the Lumia 800 is as always top class. It took a small bit of getting used to but I wouldnt go back to my old 7230 now.
For personal or business use you wont find much better
or in my opinon wont need any better. I always thought this type of phone was for the younger generation but have now seen the light.

Disgraceful Battery Life

I love this phone but the battery life is simply disgraceful! I remove the phone from its charger at 6.30am, I have to keep the WIFI and blue tooth turned off to simply try make the charge last until I get home at 7.00pm. I am a very light user and would spend very little time (15 mins) talking on the phone during the day and I only send the odd text. I only got this phone because I wanted the WIFI and I cant even use that as I never have any battery left.

Changed from N8 and noticed big differences between phones. Maps fuction very basic not half as good as stated above, you can't select a place on the map and navigate to it like N8, you need to search the server to select destination. Can't be used as a PC modem and Sport tracker App doesn't support connect to bluetooth heart monitor. Any App downloaded for N8 onto SD can't be transfered over. Still hasn't crashed and very fast, need a lot of time to get used to how the program works. Zune is harder to work with than Nokia Suite. Can't use mini opera on it either. Phone seems to suit those who are used to Iphones, etc not long time Nokia users

Hav dis phone a week now,and not very happy with it.
BAD POINTS
Poor quality sound on loudspeaker
Ring volume is not loud enough in noisy areas
Cannot accept music / ringtones via bluetooth
Not customisable enough
Camera is very bad compared with my N8
Having to use zune is a pain and it does not display contacts in phone
Not able to copy number from received text to create new contact or add to existing one
GPS wont work without data connection turned on
Battery life is not very good and will not last a full day
The flap covering the usb connection is rubbish and will surely get broke off
Unlocking phone involves pushing side button and then swiping up on screen -- double tap would be a better option
The screen does not display network signal strenght or battery level
Radio will not work without headset attached
GOOD POINTS
Fast internet browsing
Good quality display screen
Go ahead make your own mind up !!!!!!!!!!
